Adaptive Beam Design for V2I Communications Using Vehicle Tracking With Extended Kalman Filter

Vehicle-to-everything communication system is a strong candidate for improving the driving experience and automotive safety by linking vehicles to wireless networks. To take advantage of full benefits vehicle connectivity, it essential ensure stable network connection between roadside unit (RSU) fast-moving vehicles. Based on extended Kalman filter (EKF), we develop tracking algorithm enable reliable radio connections. For algorithm, focus estimating rapid changes in beam direction high-mobility while reducing feedback overhead. Furthermore, design beamforming codebook that considers road layout RSU. By leveraging proposed codebook, can expect service quality similar conventional cellular services. Finally, beamformer selection developed secure sufficient gain system's link budget. Numerical results verify EKF-based structure are more suitable vehicle-to-infrastructure networks compared existing schemes.
